Welcome to "The Face." Dare I say it's the most cutthroat reality modeling competition to ever appear on TV? Oh, dare I. The show will pit 12 young genetic lottery winners against each other in a bid to become the new face of Ulta Beauty. But they won’t be alone. They’ll have the help of three of the biggest supermodels around – yes, even one from that George Michael video – and in the end, one lucky girl will be crowned THE FACE. Why don't we meet our coaches?
"The Face" model mentor Coco Rocha was busy mentoring a group of young impressional New York Fashion Week models this afternoon at a top-secret underground location referred to by those in-the-know as "The Model Lounge." Just kidding, while the locale is truly called the Model Lounge New York, it's like a safe relaxation haven (stocked with snacks, magazines and wifi) for models running in between the shows to chill, catch up on homework and get training from experts like Vogue bookings editor Valerie Boster and social media supermodel Coco. We caught up with her before her tech sesh and she had some really interesting things to say, like, confirm that she will indeed walk in Sunday's Zac Posen show.
Twelve model contestants have packed their bags and Naomi Campbell, Coco Rocha and Karolina Kurkova already selected their dream teams for the challenge-filled season of "The Face." While the first elimination round brought an onslaught of crying, some of the chosen ones also shed tears of pure joy—like young mother of two Ebony. Having been chosen for Team Karolina, the contestant bawls her heart out and from the looks of things, even manages to make Naomi water up a bit. Take an look at what you didn't see on TV (or online, heh).
You've seen "The Fight to Make the Final 12" elimination special (and if you haven't for fashion's sake, watch it here) and now it's time to say goodbye to the dozen who won't be moving into the model loft. "The Face" coach Coco Rocha has some encouraging words for the girls on their way out: "Taking the contestants from 24 to 12 was a very harsh and quick process. I'm sure as the weeks go on I'll learn more about the 12 that we dismissed and I bet some of them would have been amazing contenders."
All the hype was leading up until tonight! The final twelve have been selected by "The Face" coaches, Naomi Campbell, Coco Rocha and Karolina Kurkova, to compete to become the next big supermodel and the face of ULTA Beauty. Let's meet the teams who will duke it out (and represent their supermodel mentors) on the season premiere next Tue., Feb. 12 at 9/8c.—GAME ON!
Whew, that elimination episode was bananas, right? (More on the 12 who made it and the 12 who didn't in a few.) In the meantime, let's kick off a weekly series with our very own Supermodel Whisperer host Nigel Barker. "The Face" host shares exclusive insights from his neutral observer status and helps us Fill-in-the-Blanks on the craziness after each episode. Let's see what he has to say about "The Fight to Make the Final 12."
