With big hats and bright colors, the Kentucky Derby is always a fashionable affair. In fact, the styles at Churchill Downs seem to generate about as much buzz (or, at least gawking) as the race horses. This year, NBC Sports has tapped style icon Coco Rocha to break down the fashions. Fresh off her role as a supermodel coach on The Face, we imagine her powers of appraisal have never been sharper.
Hey, you know that Naomi Campbell always makes a grand entrance, right? So may we present the Queen of the Runway's Fill-in-the-Blanks recap of The Face finale—fashionably late, of course. Team Naomi was thisclose to the crown with Zi Lin on the final runway challenge, but the official win still went to Team Karolina's Devyn. Let's give Ms. Campbell the last word.
While Team Coco went 0-7 during the season of The Face, the protective coach and her team members really did capture the hearts of the fans. After overcoming doubters and obstacles, Margaux made it to the final runway challenge (and looked amazing in Zac Posen), but the final win went to Team Karolina’s Devyn. Here’s what Coco had to say about the final decision:
Seven episodes, 12 contestants and 12 challenges later, The Face has wrapped and, yes, we have one more round of Fill-in-the-Blanks to play. First up, Nigel Barker weighs in. It’s been real, Nige!
Trying something a little different in today’s recap of The Face… a highlights reel! And we’re all very lucky, folks, because we have the bonus of getting ingenious insight from none other than my own mother, who I am visiting right now in South Florida. (My father chose the option of “being in another room.”) Let’s relive some of the best moments from last night’s episode, shall we?
In the second to last episode of The Face, coach Karolina Kurkova experienced a couple tough moments, but, hey, she looked fabulous! And guess what? You can shop her near-exact outfit—a dress by print-master Peter Pilotto, a leather trimmed blazer by edgy downtown designer Alexander Wang and cobalt-blue stiletto heels by Monika Chiang—right now. Or go with a budget steal, your choice, after the jump.
Well, happy birthday to us because Naomi is joining Coco and Nigel on the Fill-in-the-Blanks fun! And what a perfect time to hear from the thrice-winning (but this time losing) coach. Yesterday's episode of The Face was jam-packed with OMG moments: Devyn's cultural identity moment on the red carpet, Zi Lin's alternative name for her purple eyeshadow and Jocelyn going home. We won't keep you any longer, here's what the Queen of the Runway has to say:
Up until last night, Stephanie defied the odds and escaped the elimination room a total of three times—which is pretty noteworthy for a rookie. But it was her time to say goodbye during the cut-throat double elimination on the second to last episode of The Face. Don’t feel too bad though, Team Coco is still tight and Coco actually brought Stephanie to Fashion Week as her plus one. Here’s what Coco had to say about losing Stephanie in the competition, but gaining a mentee for life!
Aw, Stephanie. It’s been a true journey and we're glad to have taken it with you! The newbie of the crew survived three trips to the elimination room (two to face Queen Naomi, no less), but it was the double elimination the fourth time that did her in. But don’t count her out of the game—Coco sure hasn't. So here are Stephanie’s answers to all those burning questions you want to ask, including – couldn’t she tell that was a condom she was pulling out of that bag?!
