Ooh, a really good best (and first!) Fashion Week story here. Team Naomi member Sandra Woodley's first ever experience on the runway was walking in New York-based designer Rubin Singer's show. Who's Rubin Singer, you may ask. Well, most people would have the same question, too, until Beyoncé caused a power outage at the Superbowl in a killer cut-out leather onesie that he designed. Singer also designed the outfits for Mrs. Carter's back-up dancers and former Destiny's Child members Michelle Williams and Kelly Rowland—the latter who congratulated Sandra after her first effort. Let "The Face" contestant tell you herself.
My first fashion week experience was Rubin Singer. It was a last minute job, my agent called me in and told me that I had to do a show. So I jumped out of bed, got in the shower and hopped on the train. Got there and there was so much going on.
The stylist told me that there probably wouldn't be enough looks, so we're gonna hold you a spot. I was hurt. Five minutes passed and he came back and told me, "Your rack is right there," go and get your hair and makeup done. I was so excited! I had two looks and everybody else had three. I didn't really care. I was happy to walk my first show for Fashion Week! The show started and I gave it my all.
After the show I was saying bye to the designer and soon as I was leaving, somebody tapped me. I turned around and it was Kelly Rowland. I couldn't stop smiling. I was so nervous. Kelly told me how good I was and I couldn't believe it, she's one of my favorite female artists. When she came up to me, I was so happy! She said "You're going to make it." I stand humble and thank her. I left after that and was screaming up the street just thanking God for that opportunity.
